We are saddened to convey news of the death of our friend, colleague, and UC Irvine liaison, Tom Sizgorich, who passed away suddenly on 27 January 2011. Tom, who earned his Ph.D. at UC Santa Barbara in 2005, was Associate Professor of History, specializing in the late antique Mediterranean and Near East. An award in Tom’s honor benefiting incoming economically disadvantaged or non-traditional graduate students in the fields of Ancient History, Late Antiquity, or Early Islamic History has been established at his alma mater, UC Santa Barbara.
